Addicted for all the Right Reasons

For those of you that have been reading this blog since the start (which makes it sound like I've been doing this for decades which is far from the truth) then you'll recall my 'Cheese Theory'. It confused many, made more laugh and was the first post that I ever really got positive feedback from - you can read it again here you lucky people! However back in the present day, I have a post to write that is somewhat contrary to the morals of that very post. If you've not read it yet then it basically says that you should try new things and not always go for what you are used to. This post isn't going to completely disregard that idea but it might give it a soft kick in the shins.

For the people that know me, it's a well known fact that I love the Scottish rock back Twin Atlantic. I've seen them live a couple of times, I've racked up about a weeks worth of play time of them on iTunes and on my iPod I'm generally obsessed with everything that they produce. They are bringing out their first full album in the Spring which (naturally) I can't wait for. They have also pre-released one of the songs from that album on YouTube:

If you look at the number of plays (a modest amount just now but I'm sure this album is going to be a massive hit) then you might as well know that I'm responsible for well over 100 of them since it was uploaded. I must admit that their style requires a certain taste but I can't get enough - something that is alien to a lot of people who can't stand Sam McTrusty's accent!

The point that I'm trying to make is that, although it's important to diversify (which I certainly do as well just from looking at my music library), there are some things that are fine to be intoxicated by. Stuff like this new song gives me a go-to thing when I'm feeling a little down and I need a wee pick-me-up. I'm not sure how many people do this, but I'm the kind of person that sometimes puts a song on repeat for three or four plays in a row just because it makes me feel good. It's a little sad but if something makes you happy then why not exploit it. I think it is fair to say that when Twin Atlantic's album does eventually come out, my ears are going to be working overtime.

Thanks for reading and hopefully enjoying the newest song of my favourite band as well. Get yourself addicted to the right things and you might just brighten up your day!

Cheers,

Martin
